2014 - Wrapping up College
Although I was working on one of the best technologies companies in the country, I didn't finish up college yet. And given that my work was far from the university, I need to do something.
Leaving behind
I was one year closer to the initial estimation to finish college, but I hadn't even really completed half of the credits I needed.
I had prioritized professional experience over traditional education, but at the same time, I didn't want to take more than expected to finish college.
Sabbatical period
I was able to save enough to be able to dedicate myself to only study during one year. And that was exactly what I did.
I know that it might seem like an ideal sabbatical period, but remember that until then, I have never only studied, since college started I had been working and studying at the same time, so to afford to only study for me, I considered that sabbatical.
Studying full-time
In other to complete college in one year, and be able to finish that only half a year later them expected, I would have to do all the credits required for two years in one.
So I basically studied in the morning, afternoons and nights to be able to complete it.
Very different from what most of you might think, that was a very pleasing experience. I had never only studied during college, and that was very different from not having too much time to study.
The first semester
During the first semester, I had enrolled in 13 disciplines. And I also started doing my final project.
In the beginning, I thought that was too much, but I didn't have much time to lose.
After the semester has passed, I got the results and I have passed in 11 out of the 13 disciplines. Don't worry, I was not in a hurry as you may think, my GPA of this semester was the best GPA I have ever had so far.
The final semester
In the final semester, I had to finish my project and presentation, and also finish 12 other disciplines.
Given that I was already studying a lot, this remember was easy, and very pleasing as well. I made sure to study hard for all disciplines and worked to do the best project I could.
Wrapping up
After the last semester, I got a notice saying that I got passed all disciplines and my final project was a success, I got 9.8. I was extremely happy, all the effort put in this last year was worth and I had finally finished college.
I was also able to drastically improve my overall GPA by only focusing on studying.
